Oh Goddess Kali, how is it unrobed you roam?

Such disgrace, you have no sense of shame;

Mother, you are without clothes-or ornament,

And you boast you are princess of royal descent;

Mother, oh, does it behove, is it right for your lineage?

On the person of your Lord you mount your feet,

Naked yourself, no less your husband so,-

You amble in moors and cremation lands,

Oh Mother, we all blush, die in shame-

Don now my girl, we pray, your clothes;

Forsaking wreathes of gems, oh Mother, you dorn

With corpses round your gracious neck;

Prasad declares, oh Mother, awed Lord Digambara

Of that your fearsome countenance.

Meditation on the Goddess Kali

 We meditate upon the great Goddess who takes away all darkness, and contemplate She who resides in the cremation grounds. May that Goddess grant to us increase.

The sound of her voice is dreadfully fearful. She has loose hair and four arms. She who takes away the darkness, of divine ability, displaying the garland of heads of impure thoughts.

In her lowered left hand is the recently severed head of the Ego. In the upper left hand, is the sword. With her lower right hand She grants fearlessness, and her upper right She gives blessings.

She shines like a big dark cloud, and She is clothed in space. From her neck dangles the the garland of heads, dripping the blood of attachment from the severed necks.

Her two ears are adorned with ring shaped ornaments, her body is withered like a corpse. Her large protruding teeth are extremely terrifying to the ego, and her large upraised breasts are overflowing.

She wears a girdle made from the severed arms of the corpses of impurity that She has slain. Her face is filled with laughter. Pouring forth from the throats She has cut, comes a torrent of blood, the life of all passion, in a glistening river.

Extremely frightful and greatly terrifying is this resident of the cremation grounds; this young woman with a figure like an asetic's begging bowl, with three eyes.

Pervading the South, and filling up everywhere, unattached, She is resting with ease on the corpse-like form of Mahadeva, the Great Lord of All, standing upon his heart.

Kali emits a dreadful roar which pervades the four directions, and Mahakala equally reciprocates with the greatest of delight.

If one contemplates Kali, the Remover of Darkness, in this way, with her face of radiant beauty giving pleasure, and its wide expansive smile, one will become prosperous and fulfills all desires.

The cause which moves the Subtle Body to the Infinite Perfection and Beyond, cut the ego! Maya! Maya! Oh goddess who removes all darkness, the Cause which moves the Subtle Body to the Infinite Perfection and Beyond, cut the ego! Maya! Maya! I am One with God!

I bow the Goddess Kali who takes away darkness.

Throughout time, there have been numerous harbingers heralding the ever-changing nature of the Universe. Music has always been a powerful tool for being able to give expression to aspects of consciousness which cannot easily be done in words. With this in mind, we turn to a new release available from Majmua Music.   "Arrows in the Quiver" is the debut offering from Solar Dynasty. The tracks for this album were taken from various DAT sessions that were recorded in Boston during the mid to late '90's.  The great sage, Swami Vivekananda once said, "Music is the highest form of art and for those who know, the highest form of worship."  Taking these words to heart was a coterie of young men who were determined to uncover the mysteries of life and death through sound.  With instruments in hand, they began to wage war against the great Ego. The Lord saw this and was pleased and allowed a burgeoning of devotion which threatened to burn up the three worlds!

The stars are blotted out,

The clouds are covering clouds.

It is darkness vibrant, sonant.

In the roaring, whirling wind

Are the souls of a million lunatics

Just loosed from the prison-house,

Wrenching trees by the roots,

Sweeping all from the path.

The sea has joined the fray,

And swirled up mountain-waves,

To reach the pitchy sky.

The flash of lurid light

Reveals on every side

A thousand, thousand shades

Of Death begrimed and black-

Scattering plagues and sorrows,

Dancing mad with joy,

Come, Mother, come!

For terror is Thy name,

Death is in thy breath,

And every shaking step

Destoys a world for e'er.

Thou Time, the All-destroyer!

Come, O Mother, come!

Who dares misery love,

And hug the form of Death,

Dance in destruction's dance

To him the Mother comes.
